The Journey of Making This Game
Creating TwoInsteadMetall was a complete development experience, involving everything from defining the architecture to building the tools needed to produce and test the game. The project was developed in C++ for Linux, using raylib for graphics and audio, Jolt Physics for characters and vehicles, and its own pipeline in Python to convert models, animations, and textures into optimized formats. This approach provided direct contact with fundamental game engine systems such as rendering, physics, skeletal animation, artificial intelligence, asset management, procedural audio, and persistence. One of the biggest challenges was integrating the two game modes — character on foot and driving vehicles — within the same world. It was also necessary to deal with different scales and orientations of the 3D models, physical behavior of the cars, clipping clothes, visual assembly of weapons, hundreds of enemies and optimization of an open scenario. Development was divided into incremental sessions, each accompanied by automated tests that actually run the game with simulated commands. These tests check everything from menus and movement to combat, inventory, garage, audio, and Release version packaging. More than just producing a game, the project provided practical software engineering experience applied to games: transforming an idea inspired by a classic into modular, observable, and progressively more complete systems. The result represents both a playable experience and the accumulated learning in creating the technology, tools and content to underpin a standalone 3 D game.

GameDevComIA
The game was developed using knowledge from the Game Dev Masterclass course with AI! An excellent course and I highly recommend it, not forgetting to mention the FROM zero to the Game courses that were also incredible for this journey.
