About This Game

Elyria draws heavy inspiration from nostalgic PlayStation 2-era games, featuring bold, vibrant colors reminiscent of titles such as Dragon Ball Z: Sagas and Crash, among others. Help Trevor Kardully find answers in the Forest of Gortak by collecting scattered scrolls that reveal the reason for his presence there. Elyria—the game world's deity—has bestowed two sacred weapons upon Trevor; use them to defend yourself against Orcs, furious creatures that hunt the forest's sacred fruit. The game features two endings: an alternate ending and a true ending. Collect all the gold scattered throughout the forest and discover the secret path revealed by Hakarael, the forest goddess, to avoid a confrontation with the Forest Guardian, Agorarg.

Gameplay: Trevor can run, defend, attack with a sword and axe, jump, and interact with stones that reveal secret paths. Collect healing potions to recover from battles and gather all the gold to unlock the true ending. Press TAB to view the scroll detailing Trevor Kardully's arrival in the Forest of Gortak.

Elyria was developed using the UPBGE 0.2.5b game engine.

The Journey of Making This Game

Elyria Definitive Edition is an updated version of the original Elyria, a game developed as part of the "Your First Game in 14 Days" course. I wasn't entirely happy with the initial version—largely due to the feedback I received—though that feedback was constructive. Knowing that the game also failed to impress the friends who had been eagerly awaiting it, I rebuilt the levels, refined the enemy AI, and added new mechanics, all while drawing inspiration from classic titles. The PlayStation 2 remains the ultimate reference point for games in this style. Elyria Definitive Edition stands as proof that a developer can take the feedback they receive and use it to expand and improve their work. I am incredibly proud of what I created. Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite projects, precisely because it challenged me to do something different from what I was used to.

How Uniday Studio Helped

The course in question was "Your First Game in 14 Days"—it was the second course I took. What really helped me was the simplicity of Guilherme's explanations and how he made me believe it was possible to create a game that was simple yet fun. He consistently emphasized the importance of focusing on creating something simple at the start of the journey. I will certainly remember all the support I received during development; I would email the Uniday Studio team, and they would always reply and answer my questions.
